The Earth Journalism Network (EJN), an initiative of Internews, offers reporting fellowships for professional journalists interested in covering the first Conference of the Parties to the Agreement on Marine Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction, known as BBNJ.

The agreement concerns the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction.

The initiative aims to strengthen international media coverage of ocean conservation and marine environmental issues, enabling journalists to report on international negotiations and communicate their outcomes to audiences in their home countries.

According to the published information, 10 journalists are expected to be selected to participate in the conference in New York City in January 2027. The program aims to achieve balanced representation between journalists from the Global North and the Global South.
