The Amphibian Conservation Fund, administered by Stiftung Artenschutz (Species Conservation Foundation), provides financial support for projects that directly or indirectly contribute to the conservation of threatened amphibian species worldwide. The fund was established in response to the global decline of amphibians and supports initiatives with a clear conservation impact. Eligible activities include direct conservation actions, conservation-focused research, conservation breeding, habitat restoration, capacity building, training, education, and public awareness. The fund is intended for conservation practitioners, researchers, NGOs, and organizations working to protect biodiversity and endangered amphibian species.
Details
  • Maximum grant amount: €5,000.
  • Partial funding is available.
  • Project duration must not exceed 12 months.
  • Grant funds must be used within 12 months from the project start date.
  • Extensions may be requested before submitting the application and are granted only in exceptional cases.
  • Funding is awarded through a signed contract with Stiftung Artenschutz.
  • Any unused funds must be returned.
  • Budget changes require prior approval.
  • Applications must be completed in English (German is accepted only in exceptional cases).
  • Application forms must be submitted as a Word document.
  • An up-to-date CV is required.
  • NGOs must provide proof of legal status (mandatory if selected for funding).
  • A reference letter must be sent directly by the referee.
  • Applications are evaluated by independent reviewers before final selection.
  • Successful applicants are expected to be notified by mid-November, with grant agreements and payments completed by the end of the year.
Eligibility Criteria
  • The project must demonstrate a positive impact on amphibian conservation.
  • The target species should be listed by the IUCN as:
  • Critically Endangered
  • Endangered
  • Vulnerable
  • Other species may be considered if there is a justified conservation concern or if surveys are needed for Data Deficient or Not Evaluated species.
  • Projects must follow internationally recognized conservation guidelines, including those of the IUCN.
  • Projects located in the United States, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand are not eligible.
  • Projects must not negatively affect local or Indigenous communities.
  • Applications must be submitted in English (or exceptionally in German).
  • Applicants must submit a current CV.
  • A reference letter is mandatory.
  • NGO applicants must provide legal registration documentation.
